swimming with sharks

After completing my first two open water dives on day 3, Rob and I transferred to Ocean Quest, our housing for the next 2 nights. Although it didn’t quite compare to the Shangri-La, Ocean Quest was spacious, comfortable, and modern. The hard-working crew from Deep Sea Divers Den took great care of us and fed us very well.

Later that night was the first opportunity for a night dive. The waters were not only pitch black, but teeming with sharks and other monstrously large fish. As you can see in this video, the sharks were visible right below the surface of the water.

And to make this experience even more intimidating, the only additional accessory provided was a dinky flashlight.

If Rob had wanted me as his diving buddy, I would have certainly obliged, but because I hadn’t earned by certification yet, I was not permitted to do this night dive. Oh well! The night dive was all his and he didn’t hesitate for a moment before taking the plunge. Thirty minutes later, Rob and his group emerged from the water, all limbs intact. Yay!

Ok. So you KNEW there were sharks, and you STILL went IN? I think you've gone native. ;-p
